Loretta Littig Obituary

Loretta Jean Littig, age 76 passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at AccentCare Hospice, Naperville, IL. The family is being assisted by Parkwyn Funeral Home and Cremation, Berwyn, IL.   Loretta was born March 16, 1949 to Edward G Littig, Sr. and Vivian Shy Littig. She attended Villa de Chantal and Alleman High School, Rock Island and graduated from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL.   Loretta was the third of eight siblings all of whom remained very close over the years. This amazing group have shared countless memories with each other throughout their lives in the form of great stories.  Loretta lived in DeKalb, Illinois all of her adult life. Her wonderful community of friends were supportive of her, especially as she met health challenges. The family is grateful for the kindness and care provided by her friends.  She loved children and spent years as director of Little People’s Place daycare in DeKalb. She was also very gifted with graphic arts. Loretta created the Ichthus mosaic on the Alleman High School facade.  She was a strong woman who was staunchly supportive of Democracy, most notably in view of recent political developments.  Loretta is survived by her brother Edward, Jr. and his wife Mary, her sister Clara and her husband Ray German, her brother Harry and his wife Candy, her sister Mary and her husband Jim Hobbs, her sister Julia and her husband Lee Farber, her brother John and his wife Janet and her sister-in-law Shannon Littig.  In addition she is survived by 13 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews, her close friends and Little One, her pet cat. 

A gathering of friends will be held in DeKalb at a date to be determined. Anyone wishing to honor Loretta may do so by making a gift to their favorite charity.
