Father Melvin Eugene Krumdick, 81, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024, at MacNeal Hospital Hospice Center after being at Loyola Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Leslie A. Krumdick. Melvin was born February 26, 1942, and grew up in Oak Park, Illinois. He attended Washington Irving School before going to Quiqley Preparatory Seminary in Chicago. Mel was a part of the Maryknoll Missionaries for over 30 years and was ordained a Catholic priest May 24, 1969, Known as Father Mel and Padre Mel, he served many in both the United States and during foreign missionary assignments mainly in Venezuela and Mexico. Father Mel loved to travel and made many friends around the world.
