It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Mother in Law, Godmother, Comadre, and Friend, Engracia Batres passed away peacefully on August 22nd, 2020 at 82 years of age.
She was born in Barrazas, Durango, Mexico and migrated with her husband Francisco BatresV to Chicago, IL in the 1970’s where they raised their 7 children; Rene (Reyna), ClementeV (Carmen), Maria de Lourdes (Roger), Jose JuanV, Francisco Jr. (Telma), Rosa (Jose Luis) and Edith (Beto).
She was the epitome of perseverance; she was a strong and active woman with high standards and work ethic. She was also a natural entrepreneur; creative, inventive, and always somehow found a way to manage any situation, while also being willing to lend a helping hand. Engracia's bravery and fearlessness made a positive impact on the lives of many.
We also will never forget that she was THE ultimate party hostess. Engracia felt that everything in life deserved to be celebrated. She was the life of the party, stealing the show with her energetic dance moves and quick-witted humor, we have countless happy and hilarious memories. Among her many skills, Engracia was also respected and awed as an authentic cook of the most delicious, mouth watering Mexican cuisine. We have all at some point had the pleasure of enjoying her food and pina coladas to the fullest.
Engracia is an unforgettable force that will be missed greatly.
