Jaqueline Deutsh

Dr. Jacqueline Keser Deutsch, a Chicago-area psychiatrist, passed away on Monday, December 17,2018, after a long illness. Bom on December 13, 1947, Dr. Deutsch was 71 years old. Dr. Deutsch was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Lois Keser, and by an older brother who was her only sibling. Dr. Deutsch is survived by her two children, Matthew and Caitlin “Katie” Deutsch. Survivors also include significant members of the extended kinship network, especially Dorothy whose late mother, Nanny Beulah, co-parented with single, working mother Dr. Deutsch in raising Matthew and Caitlin. Other survivors include long-term friends such as Reggie and Kit, Lisa Polsby and husband Eric Stem, Jose Sorto Sr., Luke Shanley, William and Cheryl Kinnaird, and Willy and Susana Gaitan and family.Jackie Deutsch graduated from Loyola University in Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She also completed graduate work with concentrations in both Mental Health and Public Health Nursing. In mid-life, while working as a night-duty nurse in the Veterans Administration, she completed the day-time doctoral program at
the Chicago School of Osteopathic Medicine. She then continued her employment with the VA Health Care System but now as a licensed physician specializing in psychiatry. Dr. Deutsch worked for decades at two VA medical centers: Lakeside and Jesse Brown West Side. Heart-felt thanks to Berwyn MacNeal Hospital ICU staff for their superb skills and total dedication. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 to 3:00 pm Friday, December 21 at Parkwyn Funeral Home, 6901 West Roosevelt Road, Berwyn, Illinois. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or your favorite charity.
