Walter Monroe Glick died at home on May 11, 2017 in Oak Park, IL at the age of 90 from complications due to pancreatic cancer. Walter was born on August 4, 1926 to the late Lester Leander Glick and Mary Cecelia (nee Walters) Glick in Napoleon, OH. He attended Napoleon High School and served in the US Army Medical Corps in World War II immediately after graduation.  Following his return to the States, Walter attended Ohio University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree. He settled in Oak Park, IL in the early 1950’s and studied art and painting at the American Academy of Art in Chicago.   Walter worked for the US Postal Service and later the US Department of Defense, retiring with 41 years of commended service.  He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Lester Jr. and Virginia.  Walter was an accomplished portrait painter, artist and athlete.  He enjoyed sports of all sorts, especially bowling, golf and tennis, which he played avidly even into his later years.  Walter had a large and varied group of friends, all of whom he held dear, especially Edgar Matticks and family, Dan Hudson and Tony Loutos.   At his request, no services will be held.  Memorial contributions in his honor are welcomed to the Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest.  www.oprfhistory.org.
